Abstrak: Latar belakang penelitian ini mengacu pada peringkat literasi masyarakat Indonesia berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan oleh PISA (Program untuk Penilaian Siswa Internasional) pada tahun 2019 yang belum meningkat secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan tahun sebelumnya. Sementara itu, pemerintah Indonesia telah melakukan program peningkatan literasi, terutama di sekolah dasar dan menengah. Selain itu, belum banyak penelitian tentang literasi membaca di Indonesia, khususnya di daerah Nusa Tenggara Barat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi masalah literasi membaca yang dihadapi oleh siswa di SMAN 1 Aikmel, Lombok Timur, Nusa Tenggara Barat. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan menggunakan studi kasus sebagai metode penelitian. Informan penelitian ini adalah guru sekolah, siswa, dan staf perpustakaan di lokasi penelitian. Tindakan, pernyataan, dan dokumentasi peserta yang terkait dengan masalah literasi membaca digunakan sebagai sumber data. Observasi dilakukan untuk mengetahui kondisi dan implementasi program GLS di sekolah. Temuan dari pengamatan kemudian diklarifikasi dengan mewawancarai kepala sekolah, guru, siswa, dan pegawai sekolah yang berhubungan dengan kegiatan GLS di sekolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada empat masalah literasi yang dihadapi oleh siswa sekolah menengah dalam literasi membaca, yaitu (1) kurangnya minat siswa dalam membaca buku nonpelajaran, (2) kurangnya ketersediaan bahan bacaan selain buku pelajaran, (3) lingkungan membaca yang kurang kondusif dan mendukung, serta (4) keterbatasan dalam menerapkan program GLS.
Abstract: The background of this research was carried out referring to the literacy ranking of the Indonesian people based on the results of research conducted by PISA (Program for the Assessment of International Students) in 2019 which had not increased significantly compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, the Indonesian government has carried out literacy improvement programs, especially in primary and secondary schools. In addition, there has not been much research on reading literacy in Indonesia, especially in the West Nusa Tenggara region. This study aims to identify reading literacy problems faced by students in SMAN 1 Aikmel , Lombok East, West Nusa Tenggara. This research design uses a qualitative approach and uses case studies as a research method. The informants for this research were school teachers, students, and library staff at the research location. Participants' actions, statements, and documentation related to the problem literacy reading was used as a data source. Observations were made to determine the condition and implementation of the program GLS at school. Findings from observations were then clarified by interviewing head school, teacher, student , and employee school which relate with activity GLS in school . The results of the study show that there are four literacy problems faced by middle school students literacy reading, namely (1) lack of students' interest in reading book non-lessons, (2) lack of availability of reading material besides book lesson, (3) reading environment which not enough conducive and support, and (4) limitations in implementing the program GLS.
